seminary book

This semester is going to be full of hours spent reading, contemplating and memorizing.  It is going to be the toughest semester that I have ever had in school but honestly, I am thoroughly excited about it.

I truly enjoy my classes and how much I am learning in them.  However, it is quite hard trying to fit everything into my schedule since on top of 12 hours in seminary (which compares to about 18 in college), I am working full time selling cars at Suzuki.  Well, I haven’t really sold anything with the whole economic crisis going on, but oh well.

But I would like to take a little bit of time, here and there, and give a review of books that I am reading, for school as well as for fun.

I just finished David Peterson’s Engaging with God.

This book was actually pretty good.  It is more of a scholarly type book, with nuances of the Hebrew and Greek words that determine a more accurate reading of Scripture.  But I did enjoy it very much after getting used to his style of writing.  If you are interested in finding out more about how worship, in the Christian church, came about, this is a good introduction to that subject.  If you want to learn more about how the writings of Scripture influence the aspects of worship that we use, this is a read for you.  And finally, if you want a book to remind you of the importance of being a church seeking the glory of Jesus, this is a must read for you.
