presidential devotion

I was reading this morning about how Obama gave the Queen of England and iPod (which she already has two of) and for some reason, it hit me about how much power this guy has.  I couldn’t imagine what it would be like to be president of the United States of America.

He can have his people get everything that he desires.  If he wants a specific type of food, he will send someone out to go get it.  He can get a diamond-engraved iPod for the Queen if he so desired.  He can do almost anything he wants.   Heck, Nixon got away with the crimes he committed (he had to leave office, but then he got pardoned).  The president has followers all over the world.  It is true, many do see Obama as a Savior and there will always be that temptation when they are lifted up so high for our eyes to see.

He can even go anywhere he wishes because of Air Force One.  He can have as many people around him as he needs or desires.  Anyone will break plans if the president wishes to meet with them.

Yet we forget that he is just a man.  Listen to what God says He himself is in Isaiah 55:8-11:

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways,”
       declares the LORD.

9 “As the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts.

10 As the rain and the snow
       come down from heaven,
and do not return to it
       without watering the earth
and making it bud and flourish,
so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater,

11 so is my word that goes out from my mouth:
It will not return to me empty,
but will accomplish what I desire
and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.”

I’d much rather break plans to be with God.
What kind of things are you letting get in the way of time with God today?
