There’s no getting around the fact that God is in charge. He doesn’t relinquish that control either. It is not something He just gives up. And just as this law works in nature, God doesn’t want us to have control in our lives. Looking back through my life, I have realized that every time I was off, it was because I was trying to maintain control (when I didn’t even have it in the first place). God is ultimately about His glory and there are so many things that I can go into with that in this post but I don’t want to write a book right now. (If you want to read more about God’s glory and how that is His ultimate goal, read some John Piper, and particularly his book, Desiring God.)
God is ultimately about working through us and He wants us to have a deep bit of satisfaction on our own but ultimately He desires His own glory because He is the most beautiful thing in the universe and if He promoted anything other than Himself, He would be lying.
Ultimately, when Jesus says He is the only way, He is telling the ultimate truth because there is no other path that is even close. No other path leads to as great a joy as the Christian one.
But I digress. Success is what we are talking about and it is this subject of Jesus and His glory that I wish to close with. To sum up, success means looking like Christ.
As Christians, if we look like Christ, our journey is probably complete. And I mean this in all ways, because there is not going to be one day this side of heaven where you look like Christ everyday. But this is the journey we are on. We must be looking more and more like Christ each day because that is the new creation that He made us to be.
So, in closing, if you want success, here are the 3 steps:
- Success starts with seeing God.
- Success continues with realizing who we are.
- Success ends with Christ’s life being paralleled.
But believe me, this is a journey that you will have to die for. Success is not something to be taken lightly and I appreciate the fact that you are seeking it and I pray that God works through you to be the most successful person you can be.
